Understanding East Coast Swing timing/rhythm
East Coast Swing, originally known as ‘Eastern Swing’, uses a six count basic pattern with music employing 4 beats per measure. It consists of 2 triple steps, and a rock step, typically starting on the downbeat of music. It is usually danced to faster music, but can really be done to any range from 120-155 beats per minute.
